Pub history
Previously Vernon’s supermarket, in 1997 these High Street premises were converted into The Moon Under Water. The supermarket, itself, had replaced smaller shops built on the site in Victorian times. In 1890, number 164 High Street was a long-established butcher’s, run by John Homer. By 1900, it was in the hands of Thomas Homer. In 1912, Benjamin Homer was in charge. The business continued trading at this address for many more years.
